19 of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been earned on hard surfaces
A resurgent Daniil Medvedev secured his first trophy for nearly 30 months with a win over opponent Moutet in the tournament final.
Medvedev, a ex- world number one, has experienced a difficult season, achieving just a single victory at the major tournaments and undergoing a difficult moment at the American major.
The player's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serve in particular - led to him falling of the elite rankings and eventually separating with former mentor Cervara.
Now collaborating with Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has steadily progressed in the past month - culminating in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over Frenchman Moutet.
This marks Medvedev's first trophy since the Rome competition and maiden on a hardcourt after spring of the previous year.
The win also means the Russian has achieved 21 titles at 21 distinct events.
"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a event with my two daughters at once, so to get a trophy is really nice," stated tennis professional the champion.
"This victory is in honour of my child Victoria, because the first title I got when my first daughter her name was born was for her."
Medvedev, the former major winner, had been defeated in his past six finals, including in that event earlier this year.
The player's counter-punching strategy and recurring emotional displays on the tennis court had led observers to question if his capacity to play at the highest level was over.
Yet the player has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, making an effort to advance forward and play positively, reinforced by an better serve.
Medvedev fought back from a break down in the initial set against the difficult Frenchman, securing 4 of the final five games to gain the advantage.
Both players exchanged breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, striving for his maiden ATP Tour victory, seized the initiative to create a decider.
Moutet defended four early-game opportunities in a close deciding set before the champion won the break to that score to secure the win.
Fittingly, he clinched the title with a shot at the net area, with the Frenchman failing to handle a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
